I have 2 rods out the rod holders, both floating unweighted pillies at different lengths from the boat.

While these are floating out there, I usually throw a slug or 3, varying weights. Or sometimes a pooper. AVriesday to day. Just have to change till you find what is attracting them at the time. they can be picky and change, depending on what bait fish etc they are chasing, you need to match lures to suit.

If trolling i use halco lures, 2 metres deep, one pilly colour the other pilly type but purplish not blue. Both 160 in length.

mate, we use lazers, normally in 30 grams or 50 grams or inbetween and do pretty well on them, we have found that blue and silver are the best colours this season

If there timid a floating pilly and keep working it, slow retreive -stop etc. Works for me, they'll play with it all the way then take it right at the back of the boat sometimes, great sight.

Herring on a gang of 2 x3/0s. Allow to sink slowly, then twitch the rod tip a couple of times as you retrieve the line. 25-40 gram metal slices, cast out, allow a few seconds to sink, then an erratic stop, start retrieve should attract the spotties.

If trolling a 3"spoon down 5-8 metres.

Kind regards Trevor

For beacon work i mostly use the 40g knight and some times the 20g. To be honest though anything shiny/refective and about that size, cranked quickly will catch them.
