I'm looking at building a jig stick of about 6 - 8 kg, it will be mainly used on charter boats. Most of these boats have canopies above the fishing deck & very often you hit the frame of the canopy with your rod.
My question is should I use fibreglass or graphite.
I've heard that graphite will break if hit.
The weight of the rod doesn't matter to me.
What do we think.

Jerson.

P.S.
Bearclaw, the flex coat works a treat.

As long as you keep it under 7 feet you shouldnt have any problem. Thats a light jig stik. IMO Graham

that is partially true, graphite and composites do NOT like being mistreated, but they do not just snap at the slightest touch, (usually) but when they do go, they are usually stuffed, almost any fast taper blank will do for what you are after.
