OK I have my sewing machine motor lathe and 3 rod supports made. Now just wondering if the thread holder should be made to sit between the rod and myself or on the far side of the rod. What does everyone do? Should probably do myself a favour and buy the DVD!
i always preferred to have it on the far side of the rod. that way you can rest your forearms on the bench & bind from behind. this way your arms don't get as tired & wobbly during a long binding session
Hi Stuie,
can't really answer this one as I use my hands to hold the spools as I found the thread tensioner a pain in the donkeys relative.

Hi Stuie, after trying various annoying devices I ended up just dropping my spool of thread on its side in a plastic cup on the floor, works great, you can shift it around anywhere.
And hi again to Jan ( I'm "chin" when on polyboatowners ).
we are going to have to stop meeting like this Tully, lol.
