Fishing the Seaway Wall

Just how good is the fishing from the Seaway wall. I have never seen anybody catch anything off it. The few times I have fished it I have just lost tackle, got snagged a lot and generally frustrated.
I am however determined to catch something decent off it.

Anybody caught any good fish from it?

i seen on guy get 3 trevally around 2 kilo in the afternoon and you sometimes get kingfish and tuna around there but you realy need heavy gear with a decent rod

Is that necessarily fishing the tip?

I imagine a good rope gaff would almost be a necessity if fishing the tip.

I have 80lb Braid. I imagine that would be the stuff out there for the fish you mention.

Hey Paulez2, I caught a spotty mackerel and flathead there about a month ago and have seen people catch trevs there as well. The longer the rod the better ;P

i have caught some of the hardest fighting rocks at the seaway, man can they pull hard,wont let me take an inch of line back and always breaks me off.

I hit the Seaway on Sunday night(Just on High tide) using llivies....got smoked by what I think was a large kingie - leader attenuating rocks!

I was running 20 pound braid with 30 pound leader.....I have since upgraded to 50 pound leader ;)

Pretty tough place to fish land-based imo....

best to fish the low tide and get as close as possible with as expected the strongest and longest rod and heavy gear
possible catches tuna, king, mack, trevally, tailor when on the run
will be possibly fishing there this sunday

And my fovourite jewies on worms or live pike or potty mullet . A pice of 25mm x5 meters long alloy tube with a gaff hook in the end.

One of the best spots on the gold coast. Just leave bait in the freezer and use lures.

I'd be inclined to fish Livies. I have only really fished lives a few times. The first time I did I was spooled off The Tangalooma Jetty by some big beast.
The second time I fished livies I caught a Metre plus Flathead on a live pike on the Gold Coast. I have never seen such a big flathead in my entire life. I released it of course.

I might try fishing the Seaway this weekend myself. Catch some livies and give it a go, now that you have all inspired me. Maybe I'll see some of you there. I'll be the one holding a fishing rod. ::)

What's the best way to fish livies at the seaway? Balloon float or just an unweighted livey. (which will nearly always swim under a structure and hide and have you snagged again)
