hey guys

had the spinfisher 950 ssm out this morning and have had some drag issues for some reason the drag wouldn't work with only a little bit of drag pressure coming even when fully locked up. I took it off and did some readjustment but still only seem to be able to pull a small amount of drag after readjustment im still only getting about 4 kg of drag pressure with it fully locked up. It also seems to be grabing then letting go making it very jerky. The reel is only new so i dont know what the issue is but something has definately gone wrong somewhere. Any ideas
of what the problem might be

Do you have a schematic of the reel?
Make sure all the drag washers are re-assembled in the correct order, particularly the metal ones.
Did you leave the reel with the drag tightened after your last fishing session?
IMO always worthwhile slackening the drag completely after rinsing/drying.
Cheers, shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Hey mate

Have a schematic and have reassembled correctly, I also alwys slacken the drag off after cleaning. It has got me stumped might be time to call in the professionals.

I would think there must be some crap in the washers somewhere, just strip down, clean properly and relube if they are lubricated washers and reassemble, the Spinfisher is a pretty simple drag set up.

I have seen that with a 750s and we found that the drag knob had cross threaded

Hey neil

That might be the problem as i have had the drg washers out and cleaned them up but they seemed fine at that end so logically the problem might be in the drag knob. What did you do to solve the problem?

I had a problem similar to that with one of my smaller spin fishers when the drag knob was removed and spool lifted off i noticed that the spool was not lining up properly onto the shaft thus not enough drag and a bit jerky and lumpy after lining it up correctly it worked fine.

I can't remember if the guy replaced the main shaft later but he got it going again by playing around to get it on the correct thread
