has anyone noticed any unusual catches in their area? a mate caught a scarlet sea perch half way between cabbage tree point and the pin and another bloke told me he saw someone pull up two painted crays whilst prawning in 30 to 50ft near macleay is. are these random exceptions created by warm water (el nino- cyclic) or were they there and we didn't know it.

Maybe our waterways are becoming cleaner and the old species are returning...

i'd like to think so as well shaman, i know the sewerage treatment plants have improved the quality of the effluent they discharge dramatically, i think they're all down below a total N of 5ppm. i've noticed a continuing improvement to the spotty season since the ring netting was halted. im lead to believe apart from the obvious that the noise emitted from netted fish acts as a warning for others not to come near as observed with mullet, i'd be interested to know whether this works within the species or across different species.
