Caught this at Horseshoe Bay (Peel Island) yesterday. Anyone id it for me???

not the best photo, but at this stage i'm leaning towards a stonefish...?? Why is it upside down???? do you foulhook it ?

Fouled hooked near tail end. Thought it was a Stonefish too, but the only other stonefish I've seen was in North Qld and it was uglier and rounder. Cheers.

a ghoul fish perhaps. there was an ID on a similar fish not long ago.

Doesn't look like a stone fish to me. I got one a couple of moths back, i will attach a pic of one. As to what it is i have no idea.

not sure but looks similar to a bullrout although far bigger than most ive seen

Caught on of those buggers when i was younger, the thing swam around with my lure still attached. Didnt want to touch it for fear of my life

Fugley is the word. Looks like the Batfish has some serious competition in the ugly stakes here :)

Looks like a scorpion fish, I used to have one in an aquarium and seen a lot when diving on the reefs. They will give you the same hurry up as a stone fish.

Think your correct there Darren its in that family in fact i think it may even be a closer relative of the Lion fish commomly seen in aquriums ? My money is on scorpion Fish poor mans lobster .

scorpion fish... i have heard of scorpion cod and also hear there not bad on the chew, just have alot of spikes out of them which arnt to nice
