Unfortunately, with the increasing numbers of boats on the water, there is a corresponding increase in the number of ignoramusses.

Some just don't know any better and can be educated with a few words while others are a lost cause.

got a couple of bucket loads of it out in the shed (common sense), I would give it away free to any one worthy of it (worth a fortune, money cant buy it) but the sad fact is the people that need it are not worthy of such a gift. Guess I'll just have to keep it
cheers

it is NOT illegal to do what was done! but I do agree it might have been "nice" to perhaps wait untill you left before anchoring, I have been yelled at once, I was already anchored at a spot (there was not another boat it sight) and another boat came up half an hour later and gave me a "serve" for anchoring on HIS drift! he said he had been fishing there for years! I sort of suggested he may want to take back his comments and think about what he was saying, but he just kept on and on and even went up current and proceeded to drift back onto me, what a d!ckhead, in the end it turned into and all out slanging match (much to his passengers disgust) and he threatened to take it further on shore, anyway after I got back to the ramp, he turned up and I thought we were "on" but he apoligised for being jerk, so you never know huh!

Felllow ausfisher bbear's son was spearfishing on a reef last weekend when a pro fisherman came up to him and said it was his reef and to move on. His son told him "I'll dive to the bottom and if i see your name on it I'll leave"

Looks like the Queensland surfing etiquette is finding its way into the boating and fishing scene. >:(

I was once witness to a man in his 40's pushing around a 13y old boy at a boat ramp at baffle creek.

The young boy and his dad had come up from down south for a weeks fishing holiday. When the father was driving the car off the ramp and around the corner to park(some 500m away). This old bloke hopped out his boat and asked the young boy where he was from.

When he found the 13y old was from brisbane he started to abuse him and actually push him around saying stuff like "you southerners always come up here and ruin my creek".

My mate and I saw this from our across the street and we soon jumped in to the kids defence and gave the old bloke a serve. But what sort of ###### does that to kids? luckily the old bloke buggered off before the boys dad came. Or I rekon the old fella wouldn't have survived to fish another day

like in the surfing scene down at Snapper Rocks some months ago, guy with a yank accent kept on being dropped in by the regular local yobbo crowd that proclaim the Superbank to be "Their Break", well anyways when I was done I could see one of those local yobs follow him in and confront him just outside the surf club. They got the rough end of the deal, the yank knew martial arts and had both of the beefy lookin' local twits down and out, one with a bleeding jaw, the other one bleeding from the nose in under 30 seconds. Wonder if that taught them a lesson ?

Thats ridiculous, but what can you do ? I'd have anchored just up from him and given him a half dozen brown eyes, or kept my motor running to put the fish down.

Not much you can really do though with morons like that.. OK, no one owns the sea, but that applies both ways, what he did wasn't "illegal" but I don't think that is the point. What he did was imorral !! dick weed of a bloke!

Have done it myself in error before I properly understood drift fishing (1770 last year).

Blokes do that to me all the time in private and charter boats they see yellow and black symbols and think its a written invitation to anchor off my stern and i've spoken to fisheries about it and they say it is illegal to interfere with a commercial opperation or risk a fine in excess of $10000 i've had them speak to a few punters already.
