Hi Fellas/Sheilas
I'm just back from a trip to Northern NSW where we camped for a week, had a great time . Got a few tailor, one session we were getting a fish a cast ,no size to them but plenty of fish, but did not score in the LBG department ( only fished one day).
Some blokes near our camp spot were getting quite a lot of crabs, some of them seemed very small.
I know i have a copy of the regs at home,, but can someone let me know size and bag limits and how many pots are allowed.
cheers

hey Rando
I presume you are talking about mud crabs: Legal size is smaller than Qld and is 8.5 cms BUT measured from front to back, not laterally. Bag limit is 5 per licenced fisher. I think there is an age limit there under which you cannort be counted ( under 15 yr olds maybe??)
In NSW you are allowed to have 5 hoop nets/witches hats or dillies and only one trap - 6 devices in total. When you talk of pots, I believe you mean traps, so you are only allowed one of those.
cheers

Thanks Tony.
I was actually talking, sandies, sorry I should have been specific.
8.5, front to back is tiny, but i guess, if thats legal size then good luck to them.

6cm - http://www.fisheries.nsw.gov.au/recreational/saltwater/saltwater/bag_and_size
In NSW - Crabs, except spanner crabs, are measured along the body from the notch between the two most protruding frontal teeth to the centre of the posterior margin of the carapace or shell.

The bag limit for blue swimmers is 20 - the same rules apply as to numbers of trapping devices and 6cm front to back as Steve says is correct.
If you are concerned about the size, then note that it is also legal tosmall legal size. It would be good to have more universal rules about this stuff. I know, some fish in some states do not reach the legal size set in others, so that poses a problem.
cheers
