Hi
The battery for the remote control for the central locking is going flat. Anyone know how to replace it? Any other forums where I might get an answer?

Using a jewelers philips head screwdriver, undo the only screw on the plastic grip. Remove the old battery & replace with a new one. Do not stuff the rubber O-Ring.

Hi
No screw on mine that I can find - Its an oval shaped thing with a button in the middle on one side and a Toyota logo on the other side

Sorry,
Cannot help then. My last Prado was 2003 & that was the setup. Had two buttons.........lock & unlock. Give a Tojo service centre a call or perhaps the manual has the info.
Update. I now have a 100 Series which has a single button remote which is separate to the key. This sounds like yours. To remove the cover, insert a small flat blade screwdriver between the two halves of the remote at the end where the keyring is attached. Lift carefully & the cover will come off. Remove the battery by pushing the battery gently with the screwdriver towards the keyring end. Replace with a new battery & push cover back down. Got this from my 100 Series manual.

I'm probably too late, but if its the old prado a screwdriver anywhere in the recess will pop the unit in half. Very simple job.
They are the same as the older lux and have a finite life span esp for guys who launch boats with keys in pockets etc.
