Headed out with Shayne - 5am good Fri morning in fantastic conditions to point X off bribie island. In first 10 minutes got slammed by a snapper on the 4 inch turtleback that ripped my fluro to shreds in the reef!!....then twenty minutes later got hit by another freight train that did not want to come up off the bottom. Worked the dropshot hard but was finally bricked!... damn.....however in the next 2 hours we had great fishing - managing 20 odd squire with 4 keepers with the largest a PB 58cm. The big one slammed me with the first cast using a 3 inch lime tiger. This time I worked him either harder to keep him up off the reef - taking the 6lb braid and 12lb fluro to the limit. Great session!

Well done captain and those big fellas are fighting dirty lately, yesterday morning i swear i could hear the sqeaking of fluoro rubbing on reef being transmitted through braid and rod when i got dusted by several brutes, and that was using 16lb, might have to start motor and chase to keep on top of them if we want to get to see the big fellas.

Getting bricked like you guys have been lately means only one thing.... It's only a matter of time before everything works in your favour, and you score your PB's over 70cm. Unfortunately the score seems always in the fish's favour.
That's a nice fish SC, I hope you guys are looking at Mid July R2M comp.;)

you are right about the way the squire are fighting lately 'alleycat'. and just when you think you have them up off the bottom - down they go again with extreme power! ,nothing you can do but 'pray', starting the motor is the way to go if you have time that is!
Yeah 'scalem' here's hoping I can break into the 60's and 70's on light gear!!
