hey guys,

well i think im going to give wello a shot on friday morning from the kayak.
Can anyone give me some tips on what tackle i will need and techniques which might see me get among a few squire.

i would like to use placcies if possible but would also throw a baited line out the back,

any tips are appreciated here,

also i notice that its low tide fri morning, is that a problem at wello? is it still consistent etc

cheers

Ben

hi mate, im relitively new to the area, but have had success with a very simple rig. i use 20Lb line with a 5/0 hook on the end...thats it! I use a range of baits including squid, whitebait, herring and srtip bait, all with results. some guys will say its quite heavy line, but it covers all bases.

as for the plastics, your asking the wrong guy!!! maybe one of the other wello regulars could help out here! anywhere frome the leads to the red marker will get you a fish, but ill keep a few protrusions and ledges to myself!:-X

hope it helps mate!

There is a lot of very valuable in the reports section. Also take a look at google earth/ google maps and charts. These should get you a lot of info. There will be a lot of people fishing that area over the weekend including myself - some know the area better than others and some know a lot more about what they are doing than others. But in general follow the fleet - but have the courtesy to leave space for other people to fish.

Use the search function on this site and there is simply a wealth of information.

Baits - what High & dry said.

Plastics 5 inch Berkley jerk shads; Assassins; and Squidgies have produced results.

yep..around the red marker like high and dry said,or you could throw a line over behind green, ive had some luck over that side too.Fishing the tide in seems to be better than the tide out.

cheers

Yellahunter do a search on Wello in the Estuary reports section its been done over and over again mate! Phoenix answered it well, use those placcies on 1/8 2/0 or 3/0 tt jigheads and your in with a chance! Am deciding on whether to go to wello friday morning aswell, with the crowds im thinking of staying away!!

The secret to wello is be there when others are not there. Anywhere in the whole are of wello you can get fish from 1.5m to 10m like I said before TT jig heads 3/0 or 5/0 1/8th with a 5" berkley gulp jerk shad you cant go wrong

Best of luck
