Hi everyone i need some advice on rod and reel choice.

i have $400 to spend, on rod and reel.
i will be chasing largish fish like small kings small sharks, snapper from the surf or rocks when i visit Eden twice a year to try my luck.

i was looking at getting a Daiwa Sl50SHk and a rod about 3 metres long
with a fast taper and heavy action.

Can i get a recomendation on a rod, model number brand.
Is this reel fine for what i need?

Cheers Marz

You probably need to indicate if u are looking for an eggbeater or overhead or what ever.

Also will u be spinning or livebaiting for kings? You need a good casting reel to be able to productivly snapper fish of the stones down there, but for kingies and sharks you need something reasonably heavy which will narrow down your choice to find one that can doo all of this with ease.

Whatever you do make sure you buy a one piece rod not two. (FSU 5120 would be my choice, dunno if they still make them though)

cheers

Actually i have a Wilson FSU 5120 matched to a DAiwa SL30SH.

I want to get a heavier outfit that this with an overhead reel, nt sure of a rod but a reel either will be SL50SH or go for a TLD25. What rod should i use with this reel.
cheers.
