After seeing new photos posted up i was geed up to go get some jacks,on friday headed to my spot to flick plastics and soak a livie.First cast with the plastic produced a nice giant herring very chunky and mearsed 80cm,After that fish we got nothing for like 4 hours then my mate hooked up on the livie and zzzzzzzzzz snap a good jack, got a few more jack runs but did not hook any. stayed to day light then feared for my life as i fell asleep at the wheel on the highway every2 mins on the way home.woke up saturday still pissed of cause i did not get any, so i went saturday night on a solo mission to a different spot.As soon as i got there it looked unreal first livie i put out within 2 mins i got sizzziled into the pylon dam i was pissed quickly chucked out another livie again 2 mins then bang i was on got him out and it looked like a good jack on the surface around high 50 to 60 as i was working him to the side he splashed then spat the hook boy was i about to cry. After that i hooked another jacks that was a steam train hooked him on 50pound leader and 50 pound braid on the 6500 baitrunner and could not turn his head, he deffently new were home was, after that my baitcaster started creaming picked it up pulled him out of pylons and landed a nice 52cm jack finaly, after that i lost another 5 good fish and the bloke next to me got a 60cm jack and ofcource kept it strait away without even thinking of letting it go, anyway going back tonight should have some more photos i will hold my rod this time i think all night.

Mate it was a very busy night, its just to hard doing it buy yourself especially when both live bait rods go off at once...

hey JE, glad to hear your getting into em again.

Please be real careful with the driving. I also fell asleep at the wheel once in 1982. Thats the scariest thing thats ever happened to me. No fish is worth your life. Dont underestimate what just happened, and how lucky you were.

Jack fishing means a lot of unsociable hours, so please take precautions.

cheers
Andrew

Mate that herring is mega. I've seen them that big but I find they are hard to catch at that size. They sure are a hard fish to figure out...

Nice jack too.

Pete.

Amazing just how many Jack reports there are at the moment. Well done on getting such a good solid fish. Those giant herring sure do fight well especially on the light gear.
