Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has a 100 series Landcruiser on LPG and if so how is the fuel consumption, where is the tank fitted and what is it like for heavy towing.

Cheers,
Greg

a lot of those questions are the same for any car/4X4, fuel consumption is for all intents and purposes the same, but the fuel is cheaper, towing will be the same, engine does lose/gain any measurable amount of power, and SOME tanks are now available that fit where the spare wheel was and the spare goes on a carrier on the back, this saves the drama of having the tank "in the back seat" hope that helps somewhat.

I am no expert mate, but i bought a cruiser for its powere and performance, not fuel consumption. Have heard of someone on this site converting there cruiser to gas and they had no end of trouble with her. If fule consumption is an issue for you, maybe get rid of her and get a hilux or something a little less thirsty?
Again, just my thoughts. Horses for courses etc....

cant help you about a 100 series. But taxi's use LPG and the dual fuel ones use roughly 1/3 more LPG than petrol with some power loss.
Allot of large taxi companies are buy the purpose built LPG only or run fuel only. (saying its not worth it run duel fuel)
In saying this they don't get the LPG fitments subsidy that we get.
you can now also buy LPG that is injected in the system not like the old ones which are mixed into the air before the carby. This type of LPG delivery would have to give you better economy results with less power loss.

have heard difffernt stories on fitting gas to 100 series i recomend talking to toyota to see what they recommend and warrenty on motors
as for gas youll get about approx 2/3 the economy with gas or use a 1/3 more fuel as honky suggests but it is cheapper per litre so thats wear the savings come in as for power you will notice a decrease around town but on the open road you shouldnt until you get to the hills;D

I've had mine for more than 5 years. I get about 370 k's from 100l of gas - that's about 100k's less than on petrol, but at less than 1/2 the price.

I've got the spare wheel on a bracket at the back, so the LPG tank replaces where the wheel used to be as well as the sub-tank.

I tow a 4.7m glass boat, and haven't towed anything heavier. I've never noticed any difference between LPG and petrol in performance, towing or not.

I'm happy and have no complaints.

Good luck,
Mike
