View Full Version : end runner repair?
something nasty has happened to the missus's wilson rod
is it worth trying to re-solder the runner support where
it has separated? could the heat damage fibre rod end?
bite the bullt and get a new runner fitted??
thanks for any advise.

Hi aido i think your better off removing it and putting on a new one .Easy to remove just use a cigerette lighter or a match to heat the runner while holding it with apair of pliers as it heats just twist it off.Give the tip of the rod a bit of a clean up take the old one in and buy a replacment and some 5 minute araldite and glue the new one on.It looks like it is a push on runner i cannot enlarge your picture so im not sure.
Hope this helps Rob

hi
A cheaper option would be repairing the existing runner.
we just re-attach it with fibreglass paste, the stuff used for repairing surf boards. It works reasonably well.

dont twist the tip off pull it straight off, and dont overheat it or you will bugger the end of your blank. bob h
