Hi All!
Following my misery of 2 weeks ago at Wello where I lost more than I boated, I was determined this week to make amends! ‘No mercy!’ I said to TINN as we hit the water at 4am, this time both arming ourselves with 5/0 jigheads in lieu of the usual 3/0’s…
Superb conditions greeted us and within 10mins, I had the 1st Snap in the esky at 42cm. 10 mins later and the only sound that betters a rooster ‘cocking’ in the morning, my Daiwa Primax Zzzzzzzzzzing across the waters! ZZZZZZZ, zzzzzzz, zzzzz before finally, after 2 botched attempts, TINN nets my 59cm Snap! Woohoo, great start and it’s not even daylight! I gave it a kiss and dedicated it to ole chum ADAMY ;D as I released it into our esky! We continued along with very little drift and run boating the odd throwback and then I’m on again to a nice 41cm Cod (is there anything the TMSK Special doesn’t attract?)! TINN, armed with his new Reddington RFX7081 finally christens his outfit and lands his first keeper – a healthy specimen at 44cm. We persisted, again with little drift/run and by 6.45am, I had boated another 2 40cm Snaps and another Cod at 43cm!
With a good feed in the esky, we decided we’d head off and do some more exploring so off to Green we headed, bumping into BARRAMAN and his lovely lady on the way – nice to meet you both! Little interest at Green until TINN’s pristine outfit ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ off into the distance! Unable to turn what would have been the ‘fish of the day’, it found itself a nice little home on the ‘AQUARIUS’ ledge and there it stayed put, eventually throwing the hooks as we hovered over it hoping it would come back out – pickabooooooo!! Stumps was called and off to Mud we headed, bumping into none other than the man himself, AQUARIUS at St Helena. A quick hello and update and off we went! Tried a few spots around Mud to no avail so back to Green we went and then finished up at Wello for a last hurrah, this time in the unfamiliar territory of the right hand side (in search of this ‘killer gutter’ that TINN alleges exists)! Needless to say…. ::) Ummmm…. ::) Hmmmm! Anyway, I couldn’t help myself and ended the day nicely with a beaut 45cm Flattie!
There wasn’t the usual amount of throwbacks today as we weren’t covering anywhere near the amount of ground we’d usually cover, but I’m certainly not going to complain having well and truly made up for the misery of 2 weeks ago by not losing a single fish! For those wondering, I caught all 7 fish on the TMSK Special, and yes fella’s (you know who you are!), I’m down to my last packet and a half! But, my pain is only temporary as I should have my stash from Berkley sometime over the next 4 weeks…. ;D TINN nailed his on a Pumpkinseed Minnow 4” with both using TT 1/8 5/0’s all morning.
Take Care T
PS: BEEFAMAN, ran into ole mate at the ramp this morning, you know the one! ‘PRAWNS mate prawns!’ ‘FIVE mate five!’. TINN saw his new $2500 sounder and asked him if it found fish? ‘You bet mate! Got SIX yesterday, SIX!’ All over 80cm allegedly judging by the span of his arms… I’m yet to see him land anything over 40cm and he’s yet to show anything otherwise! Funny bloke huh….
