hey guys,

just wanted to get your opinion on which rods to get:

i have a 4000 symetre that i use mainly for chasing jew on plastics, its currently on a steve starling sportsfishing series( not the new starlo stix) squidgy snapper spin. but i dont like the rod as ive snapped the tip twice in two fishing trips. it works but is a bit too stiff with no action now and i hate the extra long but. looking for a rod in around the 4-7kg range as im running 14lb braid, any ideas?

also im looking to buy a whole new outfit, for chasing river jew on light tackle and also snapper. have decided on the td sol 2500/3000 and looking for a rod to match. already have a raider bream finesse 2-4kg with a twin power 1000. thinking about maybe using the raider with the sol( at least the colours will match :) ) but not sure weather i should get something with just a little bit extra grunt?

for both im looking for 7ft-7ft6"
cheers

If you like the Bream Finesse Raider, try the Snapper Raider with your symetre - it's 5-8Kg. I run either a symetre 4000 ot Baitrunner 3500 and it's a great balance and not too stiff.

You might even get away with alternating your sol on the Bream or Snapper rods - you'd save a few bucks that way.

Just noticed your edit - it's a 2 piece 7'6", same as your Bream Finesse.

Good luck,
Mike

yeah i thought about alternatin the sol around but its often that i take 2 rods fishing so i'd just like the 2 setups al ready to go. but ill have a look at the snapper raider

perhaps if you are saying things like 'Idon't like the long butt" and so on, you should be looking at a custom rod, no need to spend heaps of cash on fancy binding, just basic (or you could even build it yourself) it will be more expensive than off the shelf, but you will get what you want.

If you don't like the long butt, I can definitely recommend the Team Daiwa Advantage (I've got the 7ft 8-17lb - Excellent Rod) - Cost ~$190

Pflueger SP4770-1MFT 7' 3-6kg 1pc. they're cheap @ $99 from MO and I'm sure i read a report from a member here who is very happy with theirs for a Bay snapper combo. I've got the next size up for a snapper plastics bottom basher/jewie rig but it would be a bit heavy for your needs @ 6-10kg....plus mine has the longer butt.
