HI Guys, looking at heading up to DI this weekend with the boat and launching on the Rainbow side of the Leisha track.:D :D
Anyone been up there lately???
Can you get around the Cherry Venture aside from at dead low tide??
Are they still working on the CV on the weekends??
Can you get off the Leisha on the Rainbow side OK and turn around??
Any help or advice is much appreciated
Cheers, Craig in the V-Sea

Craig,
I was up there probably 6 weeks ago and the Leisha track itself was ok,it was just on the Rainbow end of the track that was dodgy.
Have a look at this link anyway.

Hi Craig,
Mate I was up there on the weekend and it's like nothing you have ever seen before. The erosion from those big ENE seas a week or two ago have washed so much away. I came in on dark Sat night and spent a fair amount of time trying to find where the hell i could get into the bay/cove area where it's protected. Turned out that that sand bank runs from the headland all the way just short of the beach straight in front of the Leisha track. It has created a massive lagoon area like years ago and there is only a small channel in and out right in front of the Leisha track. As I came through out of the lagoon there was some blokes trying to do a u turn at the end of boards with the boat on the back. I would say it will be sometime before you can drive around the bay area again. Once that sand bank does finally reach the beach I reckon it will all end up back to normal like it did years ago.
I might even put up a seperate post to let others know what's happening up there. I have a few pics but it's really doesn't show the full extent of the mess. Will post a few pics in a couple of days when i get a chance.
Cheers Greg

I was up there last weekend too, the Cherry Venture was easily passable at mid to low tide.
As for the Leisha track, like Reefmaster says I think it will be a while before its usable on the Rainbow side again.

Thanks guys.
Hey Greg I was wondering if you've been up there lately, I thought you guys just ran through the bar these days, obviously you got the boat out by saying "as I came through the lagoon". Mate the last year or so no one seems to launch up there anymore - not like old times when 20 trailers would be lined up on the beach
Those seas that came through the other week did concern me about the amount of erosion that happened hence the post. Blokes trying to do a uturn at the end of the track does not excite me one little bit
I have been hoping that bank would meet up again - as you say it will be like the old days - let's hope so.
Looks like I might just have to take a drive up there with the kids to check it out.
Thanks again
Craig
