G'day

Spent a few hours up tinny creek this afternoon leading into dusk and just after.

Tried a few spots at different stages of tide and picked up 4 litres of banana prawns, and they're getting bigger!!

Also picked up my very first luderick.... I was excited ;)

Everything was caught in the cast net, with the best cast netting 10 prawns.

DOnt you love it when no-ones around? beats the hell out of weekends :)

well, looks like friday night we'll have prawn cocktails:)

Well done Blackened,

I had little joy at Tinny creek on the weekend, but did get a luderick in the net in doboy creek also on weekend.

What sort of net were you using? I've got an el cheapo from a tackle shop, but was talking to another guy at tinny creek who had a custom made 18 foot net. He says they make the world of difference to cast and also with how much you can catch.

Cheers

G'day

This luerick was 39cm, they're quite a beautiful fish too.

steve, I only have a 10' top pocket net, but will be upgrading to a custom 12' net with a massive spread asap.

I know a guy personally who custom makes them very very well here in brisbane and he has guys who buy them from FNQ.

If you would like his details, let me know.

I hope that guy was talking about an 18' spread, because the biggest drop you can legally have is 12'.

Hi dave,

Yes , would love the details of the guy you know.

I did get a phone number of a guy called Bob, who lives down Redland Bay area. Spoke to him yesterday and he sounds like a great old bloke. His 18 foot nets are the spread size from what I understood. He is however snowed under at the moment with quite a few orders.

Just curious as to where you catch more prawns in the deeper parts of the channel or up closer to the banks? I have tried both and see others doing likewise. I suppose it is better wherever the prawns are and you just have to keep moving around to find them.

Cheers Steve

G'day

For the nets you want to call DREW on 0421815608

He's a great bloke, just let him dave sent you.

Best thing to do to find the prawns, keep looking around and i will NEVER go where other boats are.

I find they are in the deeper holes aswell as up inlets and banks and shallow stretches.

They do and will move into different water with varying stages of the tide.

G'day

I prefer a falling tide.... reason is, they have less water to hide in :)

Just go up and have a go, If I were you, I'd be there no later than 530am.
