Chasing reds you couldn't go any lighter than 50lb braid and 80lb wouldn't go astray( in case you hit a patch of largies). Tie off with a double using a bimini twist and attach 80lb leader. Tie your droppers etc on the leader, Good luck !!!

G'day
I agree, I ran 50lb braid and 60lb leader.
Best off to have a good look at a knotts book like geoff wlsons or the knotts section here before attempting anything.

I sat up till midnight with a piece or rope trying to practice my knots ..... not very easy !!! Persistance is the key !!
Anyone that lives near Gladstone, QLD, that maybe prepared to give up some time to teach me a few tricks on how to catch good fish such as Red Emperor and mackeral ? I have a new Haines Signature 5.42m with a 140 Suzuki on the rear so transport to sites is not a problem !!!
rumy 1, if you wanna catch big red emperor invest in a deck winch ,100lb mono or braid some 10 o mustard hooks and some whole mullet.
