The morning started pretty badly with myself burning a nice hole in my foot from a freshly grinded d shackle. Had on all the safety gear but the shoes. After hobbling around a bit I get a call from my other neighbour to see if Im keen to do a bt of landbased luring as the weather is 20knots.

I had recently taken him to a secret little hole that had produced a while ago but had been a bit quiet. So slabbed on the antespetic cream grabbed the 2kg rod and a few trusty lures and hit the spot up.

Water was a good colour and the bait were jumpy which looked good. About half an hour we had four nice cuda about a foot long which we kept for spanish baits later in the year.

Then finally a flash of red and old mate neighbour has his first jack which went about 37cm. I was pleased to have put him on to a nice jack. Shortly after I lost my old trusty bomber to the timber wolf and decided to go with another.

I usually change the hooks on these lures straight away but I hadnt done this one and I paid the price. I was monstered shortly after wards by a brute which laughed at the 10lb braid 2kg rod and tiny okuma reel as he peeled off the line then decided to straighten the rear hooks when I turned up the drag.

What can i say I have a love hate relationship with these fish. Will post pics in a couple of days.

Congrats to you and your neighbor on the Jack! I bet that d-shackle hurt, I've done that myself once...ouch!

Q, when you upgrade your trebles what do you upgrade them with and what size and do you also do your split-rings too?

Cheers,
Dorado

I have to wonder why people always neglect the safety of their feet when doing things? Just ask Scalem about his gardening incident involving a pitch fork and the grief he had for ages after. :P Well done on getting a fishing session in though. Look forward to the pics.
