mate haven't tried them yet, been very keen to, but they can be rigged with a stinger, there is a hole in the tail for you to run the hook out of.

Am hearing you stu they look like they'll perform like a champion, am thinking of going with the stinger just wanting to know if anyone has used them without and have found that they need the stinger or have success without them. Depending on how they sit when they are being trolled.

Tried two mixed with two skirts for a pattern, the "mack lures" took all the hits for the day but didn't last, after one day I threw them both out. Then promptly went back to the tackle store to complain and order another dozen. Recently spoke to the tackle store owner and he trolled a couple in a spread and had the same results, all the hits were on the Williamsons but they were destroyed after one day. My opinion is that they definitely work well, but it could get expensive after a while. (then again why complain about $20 for lures while spending $200 on fuel)

Re williamson soft plastic.
The deckie and I purchased a pair of live millets at $21 the pack from a little tackle shop in Bewewar. Couldn't buy them up here. Cant wait to try them at night at Tin Can over easter in the deep holes in the bay itself at night. Might pick up a jew. They are 200mm long and extremely life-like.

Just make sure you go over the crimps before using them. The occasional one will slip out (been there). The ballyhoo works fantastic. unfortunately my gaffman on the day did not. Have bought the mackerel ones as well but yet to use them. I only use a 2m wide boat so can't get a good spread without outriggers only running three at a time. I bought a small "king mackerel" christmas tree set and am going to try that up close in the pattern too. Just gotta get on the water.

JT, did you end up trying them? How did they go? I am thinking of grabbing a couple to try this week.

Mate i used them twice with a lazer pro as well at the back but with no luck.
I was going to use them on the weekend but with the sloppy conditions and the whinging wife ( shhhhhhhhh i meant to think that) i didn't get to.
When i do troll of late mate i've been using spoons but i don't do much trolling .
Just the ole achor up or drift with the line on the bottom and couple floating pillies or slimeys out the back.

Thanks for the feedback JT. I am going to give the Live Ballyhoo combo a run next time out.
