hi all

headed out with the misus to wello this morning early, and was on the water by 4.10am! moved around for a bit, then settled on a nice spot where i spent the remainder of my time til 9.30. plenty of hits and misses but managed two moses perch (or as the misus calls them: jesus perch) of around 28cm and a nice 35cm sweet lip! which put up quite an argument. there were the usual express freight trains and one that had me on the ropes for 15 mins with huge runs and moving all over the place. After seeing dorsal fins poke out of the water, i called it for a shark, but to my utter dissapointment, turned out to be a catfish of around a meter!!!

back to the ramp where i met 'Beefman' off this very site, who was cleaning some catch! also saw another Ausfish member retrieving his boat. you had a Q/trex 420 like mine and had a blue A/fish sticker on the side, i let you pass into the rigging area. ( my boat is called 'Sea n Things") Not sure who you are on here but!

while i was cleaning the fish, i sent my other half to do some cast netting off the jetty, and she filled a 20L bucket with herring, which will keep us goin for a while...good to see a few of you out there!!!

Nice meeting you mate. :)
Wello is always great fun. We watched you fight that Catty for a ood 10mins, entertaining stuff :)

My tea was great, yummy fish and salad.

All you need to do now mate is learn some plastic fishing :)

Interesting enuff, we caught most fish in 5-6 foot of water ;)

after seeing your haul, i made a promise to myself to give the plastics ago next time! no harm in trying! if nothing else, its a great spot to spend a sat morning!!!

after being out there a number of times now, i was pretty used to knowing where the channel markers line up, so i thought, until i got there in the dark. not expecting it to be so dark when i got there, and the really low tide also, it was making my run throught the unlit beacons a little nerve racking!! i only saw the first one when it was right beside me (i was trying to keep the only 2 lit ones lined up, and was only goin 6knots or so) finally made it and am now the wiser for next time!:)
