Howdy all, Managed to get out on the water on sunday. The tides looked good and the wind was on my side for a change. Decided to fish the bay for my favourite species, Blackspot Tuskfish. Managed two keepers of 4.5kg and 5.7kg. Also managed to loose a much larger fish but this happens. Plenty of surface action about with a couple of mack tuna taken for bait to be used on future trips. Hopefully we get some light winds for the weekend as keen to tackle the blueys again.

Where did ya hear that info? How can you enforce that? If its only the bay that they are protected in. They are caught all up and down the coast. In various sizes and colours. Protecting them would be a shame. But having sensible limits imposed may be a better proposition?

I have to admit. Alongside swordfish, tuskies rate as one of my most favourite eating fish. I got a few given to me when I was spearing up North last year. Clean white flesh, no bones. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
My mouth is watering.
Top stuff Rooney.

I am doing my bit to protect them. I never seem to catch them in the first place. Lol ::)
Rooney you scored a nice feed there. Very nice! Did you catch them on the stinky stuff or tupperware?

Howdy All. Tuskfish can be found through moreton bay from the likes of peel up to the cape. On sunday i decided to give the rainbow a go and came home with a feed. Personally tuskfish would be my pick of any bay fish for the eaten. There is a bag limit of 6 tuskfish in total ( combined species ). I believe that this could be lower for the blackspot tuskfish ( fish in photo's ) as the larger ones are fewer are far between compared to other bay fish. I never take more than 2 or 3 depending on whats in the esky for the eaten. Fresh fish is always better than old stuff thats been sitting in the freezer for months. These fish were caught on the stinky stuff.

What bait and tackle were you using to pull them up?

Howdy Horse. Bait = stinky stuff. sorry but unable to give any further detail as a lot of my time and effort gone into this area. Tackle = TLD 15, Custom built rod by BUDDS, 30lb braid. These guys go hard on this gear. great fun. Pic attached of combo used. A couple of morwong also made it into the esky but not big enough to get there own photo.

I caught one of those at green island not so long ago... what is the legal limit? I threw this one back at 38cm.
