Hey all. I finally managed to get out this morning and dust off the cobwebs after being O/S for the past few weeks.
Packed the new stick and armed witha few new Hb's hit it early.
Things started slow until I finally got my 1st hookup in close to the rocks. Looked to be something like a Tarpon, running hard before spitting the trebles. Not too sure as I've never landed one before.
Managed one Jack strike and enticed another one into peeking his head out.
Ended the morning with a little cod who put up a sluggish fight before being released. Pic attached.
Enjoyable little morning anyways. Good to be at it again.
I've also attatched a few pics of the Bass Pro shops in Vegas where I picked up a few specials including my new little stradic which I used this morning. Sweet reel.
This shop is attached to a Casino and is just massive, retailing in anything outdoors. Contains a rifle range, crossbow range, demo tank housing bass and other fish, golf store + range, dedicated fly fishing store and bass boats which are housed outside. When the yanks go big they really go big!
Cheers.
Richie :)

G'day Richie,
I've only ever landed 1 tarpon. A mate and I hooked about 6 one day and only got 1 on board. Unlucky with the jack - next time.
That is a massive shop. You'd need to a packed lunch to fully explore it. At least you'd be fine if you got lost or needed to camp there the night!
Cheers,
Brad

Nice pics Richie!
Looks like Vegas has become even more fun from when I was there in '98 ;)
You'd have been lucky to get me out of that store in under 4 hours by the look of it *drool* :D
It's always good to get back form somewhere to catch a fish though, nice work on the cod.
Nice little cod there Richie...Well Done
cheers tim :)

4Steve: Cheers mate. I picked up a 2500 as well as a baitrunner. All very well priced. Made sure to do my homework before I went. Almost picked up a 4000mgfa as well but decided against it.
Stradic came with extra spool and I picked up 14lb and 8lb Fireline for em. $15 for 300yds Fireline. RIIIIIIIIIIDICULOUS!!
Synful: I stopped in at least 3 times a week while I was over there.......Go figure.
TimD: I'm over the cods! Gimme a Jack any day! @@@#%
Rich ;)
Hey Rich!
Was it the OZ stradic or a diff version of the 2500? I picked up 2 in the UK for the bargain price of 45pounds each ($115ea) - different version to the Oz ones but higher geared. Bargain i thought...

Now Rich, you're not going to tell me you had all that action at Tinny creek are you? I spent Sat morning there with not even a follow!!
PS- with the Tarpon, (and I don't mean to insult your intelligence) they've got a pretty hard mouth and it's not uncommon for them to spit hooks. They dance around a bit so that doesn't help either.

T1:Picked mine up with a new stick for $135 total. I'm pretty chuffed about that. Pretty sure it's the same as the Uas version, geared the same as well.
TP: Na mate. Not Tinny this time. I'll hit it soon tho.
Murph: What sounder you get? I checked out the Mako's this week and hopefully getting down the coast soon to check out the Quinnies with a mate. If all goes well, boat within a few months.

Mate, I ended up having to reel in the budget a bit on the sounder after also recently just putting a bow mount leccy on as well. Ended up going with a Humminbird Matrix 17 mostly so I could connect my hand held GPS if I wanted to. Not a bad little unit though, dual beam and decent pixel count, can't wait to get the hang of it. Bet you can't wait til you get your own rig?

Murph: Yeh I looked at the Humminbirds as well. For then same reason as you. They just hook up a GPS antanae and it slots straight into the sounder as it's already uploaded with the relevent software. I'd have to get the hang of it as well.
Definately can't wait. Back to work Monday mate. See ya then!

BAssPro are mad hey.. I don't mean to insult anyone, but someone here recently made the comment that we had tackle shops as big as any in USA. It wasn't worth the arguement, but those pics sum it all up hey.
The one near my uncle's place has a three story water fall in the main foyer!! (mid west) They're mad I says, mad..
