Headed down to Coombabah this morning with a couple of livies - First cast and bang! Large cod pulling like a steam train....got him up to the surface and the bugger shot under a large rock and busted me off!
Threw on another livie and got hit immediately by something that nearly pulled the rod out of my hands!!(thinking it had to be a jack)... what ever it was shot back into his home and snagged me :(

The andreneline was pumping big time....but with no more livies, I headed home being systematically humbled by a Cod and an unknown...but I had plans to get some payback!

Went back there this arvo just on dusk....this time with plenty more livies....there were a few other guys fishing, but hadn't had a touch all arvo ::)

First cast and I get hit almost immediately....but no bloody hook-up!! 12cm mullet gone! I threw on another and moved 10 meters along(Thought to myself that the bugger that just took my last livie wouldn't probably have much of an appetite any more!) - Cast.....slow retrieve back towards the rock wall, and bang!! This time I'm on! Drags up as tight as she can go...whatever it is its giving a bloody good account of itself(I'm hoping Jack!)....finally get him to the surface and land a ~46cm Cod.....the other guys fishing there are amazed(As I'd literally been there for 10minutes tops!)....I packed up and went home to have a feed of cod feeling very pleased with myself!

2 PB's for the weekend....can't complain about that!! ;D

Well done again Frank. Don't you love turning up at fishing spots where others have tried catching a fish for hours to no avail and then you turn up and pull them in one after the other? I once had a guy tell me (jokingly) that if I was going to catch one more fish he was going to throw something heavy at me. I saw his not too shabby wife standing next to him and suggested he threw her but he wouldn't be in it. Lol. We had a big laugh about it all and then the inevitable thing happened. BANG! and I was on. :D Well done on your PB Frank. Those Cod sure are slimey things but taste pretty darn scrumptious. :)

Yeah mate - Was a top weekend - It's all about fishing smarter not harder! Put a bit of time and effort into researching the species your targetting and you'll get the rewards! The ausfish forums contain a plethora of info!

Definitely agree on the Cod being a quality eating fish.....fillets wrapped up in a bit of foil with butter, garlic + chillie.....cook for 12-15minutes and serve on a bed of rice - YUM!!!

Well seeing as you are sharing Cod recipes I'll share what I did with my last one. First of all take the boneless fillet and place in a large freezer bag with plain flour and a bit of salt. Then take it out and place into a bowl of egg and milk to give a nice even coating and then dip in bread crumbs. Straight into deep fryer until golden brown and then remove and eat with Thai Chilly sauce. Salivating just thinking about it. Lol
