Does any one know of the two wrecks that are near peel Is. one is supposed to be on the north west side the other is on the south east. If so do you know the co-ordinates.
Hey its worth a try.

if you find the wreck on the South East side and catch anything with lures in it....they are probably mine...lost heaps there over the years. Divers must have a field day!! By the way...the South East wreck is still visible!!

Searchinthe bay.the south east corner wreck is the Platypus. It is still visible.

The north west wreck you refer to may be the houseboat wreck. It is just off the spit beacon in about 10 meters of water,. Dont have GPS marks for it sorry.

the houseboat is the most famous, with regular returns of quality table fish such as coral trout and big snapper

seqrchinthe bay, I dont have the GPS mark for the houseboat wreck, but I will give you a starting point to search for it.

Go to the spit beacon. from there head sort of SW. If you sound around at the 10mt depth line, you should eventually find it. It is not a long way from the spit beacon.

i onlyknow it as the Spit Beacon, western side of Peel, more north of the halfway point. It is on the outer end of a sand spit that juts out from the island, a big green beacon.

This might help,

interesting that the other wrecks are not marked on the map, nor the name of spit or spitfire beacon.

If you can point it out I can give you a rough mark..

Damn, that sucks. All the bust offs that is. I don't know whether to go searchin for that wreck or go further to rouse cuse i heard their gettin some big spanish macks round there at the moment. decisions decisions eh. Anytime you want another boat to cruise round with send me a message always lookin for another fisho to fish with.

Oh yeah I heard braid has awseome strength but is not very resistant to abrasions, apparently you need like 3 metres or so of good leader when using braid. maybe it didn't bust the braid but the braid rubbed against some structure or something. I'm just learning about these new lines so i maybe totally wrong too.

Smiley i had a three metre mono leader and the time it snapped the braid i really don't think whatever fish it was was any where near the bottom. This thing picked it up and headed for Redcliffe at a great rate of knots. I really don't think there was any abrasion. Clean snap.

80lb braid snapped before the 10lb leader? must have been fairly well damaged on something sharp on a previous drop maybe or did you mean to type 8lb braid :-/ .

I've had to bust off 50lb braid and 60lb leader when bottom fishing and it is hard work.

Yeah i know. I am guessing it was a shark and by the way it ran a bloody big one. I had caught a black tip earlier that day about 2 1/2Ft long but it still would have been good to actually bring it up to the side of the boat to have a look at. And by the way smiley i now know where the wreck is so next time i am heading out i'll let you know. I had my knee operation yesterday and it feels ok so i might get out on the weekend Hopefully
