Hi Ausfishers,
Having just bought my fisrt boat 2 weeks ago I finally got it out for a spin last week. Lots of extra's plus a licence needed so slowed me up a little longer than I would have liked.
Launched it at the Logan as a mate of mine has fished it for many years. When we arrived to where it was ment to all happen, it did, dropped the leccy over the side and started working this rocky outcrop, bang bang, first cast on the new boat and up pops a 34cm bream, a couple of pics on the phone and back he went to fight on. My mate couldn't believe it, calls of luck etc kept comimg but so did these hungry bream, all up would have got about 8-10 in 20mins. Poor mate not a thing, I did thank him for putting me onto the fish though (laughs)
Next spot down towards the mouth my mate lets me know that there is always a few Flatty's around. Drop the leccy over the side again and start motoring around with my big 5 inch gulp on a new colour that I've just bought.
A couple casts later and I feel a good hit, strick the fish and I'm on zzzzzz zzzzz, feels good I said while I send the boat into a spin as I had forgoten about the Leccy, oh shit you get the motor mate this fish is running, out the back of the boat we spot a splash just under the surface, looks like a big Flatty mate.
A couple of nevous moments on the 12lb leader and trying to mouth grab the fish, eventually in the boat is a beautiful 83cm Flatty. Legs shaking hands shaking we managed to measure her get a few pics and send her on her way, wahooooooooo, hi fives all around.
After that I didn't care about fishing anymore so just motored and sounded around with the leccy so that next time we are even more confident with it.
Zoomed back up to the ramp, boat on the trailer and home to brag to the girl.
Will be heading out again thurs and hope to have a few more tales to tell.
All the best Barnesy;D
