I'm off to Burleigh Heads for a few nights in a couple of weeks. Just happens to coincide with the lead up to the full moon. :P
I'm staying at 2nd ave and wondering if there's anywhere within walking distance that would be worth the effort of packing the gear. Would be fishing dawn or late night only. Land based. I have surf gear and estuary bait/sp gear.
Any help would be great. Cheers
Larry

Mate have a look at some maps and look for bridges and drains etc. There are a few jacks around and if you are fishing late at night there is a good chance of an encounter. The tally river is too the south which is pretty good LB atm.

Hi mate
I did some night beach fishing around the full moon a couple of weeks ago at Palm Beach. There were a few tailor (best 48 cm ) , bream and tarwhine. One night , the guy beside me pulled in a cobia ( 130 cm ). Unfortunately, also a lot of rubbish fish including tripod fish and butterbream that wrecked your pillies and also a giant toadfish ( 63 cm ).
I was told that Burleigh offers a good low tide gutter and some tailor were being caught but didn't try it. Palm Beach around Main Av. would give you good access to the surf on any tide.Hope this helps.
Keep catchen'em and keep well

Thanks fishingnottaken.
Not sure what I'm targeting. Depends on what's around I suppose and what the weather determines. I'll be land based and I do prefer surf fishing, but if it blows up, I'll have to change tactics.

yo sandbankmagnet,
I had a fish a couple weeks ago off the rocks at Miami with out any luck. when i was younger, use to always catch dart, bream and tailor.. not sure if people still catch much there but i may have just had a bad day.. I also have had a couple goes in the canals on the coast, mainly the one out front of Pac fair. using SPs and sx40 hardbody there, have caught trevally, bream and flathead. have fished in the arvo and morning which seemed to do the trick.
As for hotspots, im still looking...
