Fish ID please [Archive] - Ausfish fishing Australia, Australian Angling Forums

hey was just wondering if someone could help me identify this fish. we caught about 5 of them today (no photos sorry). we caught them up some river in SE QLD. they were fairly small and bared a resemblance to a bream though a bit less round. it had bright yellow fins, a red tinge to its body and a very dark black spot on both sides near the tail. they had a good little set of fangs on them too.

anyone know what these things are called?

Hi Lizard Lord,
They were moses perch. Do a google search on them and you can read all about them.

Yeah Moses Perch, them nice eating with a bit of size to them. Catch a good number of them around Mud Island at about 35cm, haven't gotten any bigger then that in the area and a few make a great meal. I have been known to say they have been one of my fav table fish. That's IMO
