Long way to the bar itself from cleveland, let alone over the bar to the wave buoy......... charter booats usually around 45 minutes Raby Bay to the bar.........then outside so quite a trip

How far from the bar would you estimate?? Mike

Well the buoy is approx 5 miles east of Point lookout, so i would guess maybe the same as cleveland to the bar......anything up to 1 1/2 hours cleveland to the buoy.

Maybe quicker if you have a fast boat and its flat seas all the way

Hi Adam,
As Mike said it's a fair hike just to the bar and to be more precise it's around 30km from the Raby Bay boat ramp to the Amity channel in the bar (that's going around the southern end of Peel and up the Rainbow channel) It's a further 21km approx to reach the Wave rider from the bar so your looking easily at 50km each way. Although the waverider can produce plenty of Dollies it's not uncommon to get out there and find it fishless. Good luck.

Regards,
Greg

when trip planning you can use google earth.
go into tools and use the measure function.
you can step out a track in km's, miles, nautical miles or smoots, whatever they are.

G/ day Adam as has been said the WRB is about 48 klms from raby bay i do the run out that way faily regulary and it will take you on a good run, about 1 hour to an hour and a half to get there and as Greg (Reefmaster) said its not uncommon to find it fishless ! You could tag along one day if you like ?

That would be great. I also have a pretty good setup at Amity Point if you want to stay. Might make the trip a little easier.
Could be a good day or so fishing if we can get a group of boats together.

Let me know what you think?

G/ day fellas might want to hold off on the trip outside untill these big tides drop off as they make a nasty mess of the bar ! Lots of pressure waves even in small swell size. Might also be a good idea to follow someone who knows the passage for a few crossings till you find the best channels. Should be heading out that way in the next few weeks, will give you a pm when im going if anyone wants to tag along.

CHEERS RAY :D HERES A BUMPY DAY OFF P/LOOK-OUT.

Crikey - how many more of you buggers live at Alex hills???

Anyhow, weather aint looking too flash for the next week or so, fingers crossed we get some fishable spells soon. The water was gin clear out there last week - about 25m visibilty. And the current was raging.
Mike, if you want to get onto some reefies, there are plenty of pearlies around the dropoffs around the cape atm.
