hey guys
as its barra season and im fearly new to townsville im looking at landing my first barra , my Q is where to fish for them (land and boat ) what to use and what to look for when chasing them

Mate, lived in townsville a few years ago. With the rain like you have had recently I would try down at apline weir in Annandale. Barra seem to come up to meet the fresh run off and food that goes with it. Livies go well when the weir is running like it probably is now. Get the cast net grab a few and give it a go, you may have a problem getting a spot is the only thing as it was pretty popular. Cant help you with the boat side of things as I never had one up there ( just bought my first a couple of weeks ago), I have heard that the bohle and sandfly creeks go well. Heaps of options north (Cardwell and Lucinda) and south (Barratas and Giru). Hope you get a few

Aplins weir Fresh water side is good as is the saltwater side albeit the barra on the salt water side are supposedly slightly smaller
