Going up to Cairns for a week over Easter . Flying up and they tell me that I can't take the boat . Missus says I can have one day leave pass so can anyone recomend a good reef charter for day or o/nite .

Any replies much apreciated

Depends on what you are after, either "sportfishing charter" or typical reef charter. Have a look at www.fishingcairns.com (http://www.fishingcairns.com).

Hi Buggerit - a few months back I took my Dad out with Fishing The Tropics and had a great day in the Cairns inlet; their web site is here (http://www.fishingthetropics.com.au/). They also do day trips reef fishing as well which is what you are after.

When you get up here, if you want to go for a land based trip one day, more than happy to take you out or if you want to go halves in a hire boat - keen for that as well (works to about $39.00 a piece for all day), I have a cast net so bait won't be an issue.

We'll both have to get a day pass from the "ministry for finance" for that one I think ;)

Dr_Dan also suggested Fishing Cairns - a great place to start looking, by all means look there as well.
