View Full Version : Hello from Canada
Hi guys (or mates ;D ). My name is Ken and I'm from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
What am I doing on an Australian board?........Daydreaming ::) ........about the day I can come to Australia and fish! ;D My buddy's fiancee went to Australia for law school last year...they have talk of returning to Australia to finish her degree...Soooo I may just have to save up money to visit the fish...I mean them ::)
We don't have any saltwater fishing in Toronto. I've done a little bit of shore fishing on my trip to Nevis Island in the Caribbean (we also trolled up a barracuda :) ). But I'll be going to Hawaii for 2 months in May to visit my grandma, uncles and aunts. That will be my first real experience fishing saltwater. I'm hoping to learn a thing or two about surf fishing and trolling with a few friends I've met on a fishing board like this one. :)
Great looking board and people!
I'll end my usual intro with a few pics from 2007 year's fishing :)

Welcome on board, bloke. Great photos there and I suspect if there was a comp. for proving who is the keenest fisho here, you may have already won. Hell, ice is something for putting in a glass of rum and coke, not for fishing on.

Always thought Canada would be a nice place to visit, but the snow has just jolted me back to reality...
All that ice is for keeping beer cold my friend, not freezing your goolies off trying to catch a fish ;)
Gotta admit , some nice fish there though - good luck with coming down under, if you get to Cairns give me a PM and I'll take you for a fish and show you a croc or two with a bit of luck :).
Thanks for the warm welcome guys! :D
The ice season is always too short for me  There's so much fishing in so little time! Really, our seasons are very well balanced....3 months of winter, spring, summer and fall. So it's not as cold as you may think ;D
I'm far from been a keen fisho (I think that's the term). I'd even be lying if I say I'm even close to being consistent at my fishing. But I do go out a lot and sometimes I go with people who are keen...so I'm really just stealing their glory ;D
Synful, I might just take you up on that offer one day

Welcome Ken+
Those Pike are neat, always wondered how they eat after diving Clear Lake in Mb years ago and seeing scores of the big teethed things all thru the fallen timber around the lake edge.
Hell those lakes are cold even in summer, short as it is but with the added bonus of mosquitos that can carry a grown man away! I understand why Canucks look forward to winter, its to give the insect bites a chance to heal up.
Where was the law degree taken?
Cheers
Chimo (you should know what it means)
Yeah, those pike are quite a vicious hunter. However, the muskies are even faster and more ambitious than pike. Muskie fishing is more difficult than pike fishing because there are lower number of muskies than pike.
Hehe...yeah...those mosquitos, black flies and deer flies...we dub them the "Canadian Air Force" LOL
I have no clue where my buddy's fiancee went to school...Actually I should know but I kept forgetting...I can't even recall which city her school was located...all I know was that it was on the eastern coast and it was cold in your winter. So I guess it's on the south-eastern coast.

Welcome Ken+. It is always good to see people from other parts of the world. Makes me more appreciative of what we have here in Australia when I see so many comments about how many people want to visit here and even move here. Love the photos.
Regards,
Poodroo
