how do u tell a new subject from a post

How do you tell when a topic was raised instead of a post.

Out of curiosity what is the difference with the thread/post link colours ?

Unread are bright bluish, a read post lighter but there sometimes seems to be two colours even if the forum has been viewed ?

I was either having a man look yesterday or it has changed overnight :)

I could not see when a new post was started only the last reply that was made.
