Hey everyone,
i have been trying for bass at somerset damn but with no luck. I know that the fishing is meant to drop during the winter months but the fish still have to eat right? I have tried mostly trawling outside of qeen street becasue i heard that was normally pretty productive... Im picking up an eagle fish finder before i go out again and i was just wondering if anyone can give me any hints on what to look for on the sounder( it'll most likely be a eagle cuda series), or what type of lures are the best for em? And most importantly where the fish are hiding? thank you.

I fished for 6 hrs on friday, about 1hr of that trolling without a touch (trolling that is) scored a few nice fish on fly and missed quite a few. It seems to me over the last year that I have spent all of my week-ends at Somerset, that trolling in winter is far less productive than in summer.

what fly are they hitting out there at the moment, standard vampires or something more exotic? Also are you picking them up on fly closer in to the banks or still out over structure etc.
Cheers

Yep vampires in a couple of different colours, around the submerged river banks and drop offs. Most are holding in 12 - 30 ft of water.

Still good fish on the edges. Know one crew that got 15 in a day around the edges a couple of weeks ago.
