Last time I was down that way Fitzy (which was about 12 months ago) there was bugger all water in it and most of the water that was there was covered by water lillies.

I guess you could head up the northern end but there didn't seem to be a lot of water about.

I had been planning a weekend trip down there after I got my electric but they also stopped the camping a fews back as well by the sounds of it.

Still like to give it a go though.
