Hi guys, just bought a liitle bass boat, (the one in the for sale section, the black one) And was wondering where between Ballina and Brissy should I go fishing this w/end, I mainly use poppers. I know its not the best time of the year for them, but where would be a good start?? Thanks guys Sean. :)

Thanks for all the help guys, you freshwater fishermen are so bloody tight lipped!!!! It's not the first time I have tried to ask for tips and got nothing, I personally find it quite dissapointing. I Know if anyone wants to know anything about fishing I am only too pleased to help, and am willing to tell my favorite spots, because, at the end of the day I like it when other people can get the same enjoyment out of fishing I do.
When I fished Hinze 2 weekends ago, I was crossing the dam at the same time as another boat, I had never fished there b4 so was just heading across to have a look, I decided to head into one of the arms, once The other boat saw me do this and was convinced I wasn't 'following' him he took a sharp dogleg and then headed for where he was really going to fish, all I can say is What a ######. Its weird considering so many fresh water fishermen c&r, Just my opinion though!!

hey mate if you like using poppers it would be worth goin for a drive up to cressbrook one day. poppers work there real well most times of the year. its a couple of hours from brisbane though. You dont even need to go far up the dam with just the little bays around the camp ground good territory in the early mornings. Other wise have a fish in wivenhoe. Its close to brissy and has good bass but can be difficult at times.

good luck

Pity you got lost following my directions to Hinze. Much better fishin' up the top. they should be schoolin' in the deep water at the moment as well.

Sarcasm wont get you anywhere most times Sean. You asked about surface fishing in the fresh in a given stretch of coast. You'll have to excuse the fish if its not the best time for surface fishing in most productive (surface luring) lakes.

Also worth mentioning that the main target in Qld coastal freshwater is bass & its closed season for them ATM, hence the lack of reply from many Qlders I would guess.

I'd advise you go exploring (half the fun anyway). Read mags, get maps etc, find access points & do what many others have done before you. Get out there & give it a go.

Many sweetwater fishos are tight lipped about small water locations. Some spots simply wont handle the pressure that could come about by publicity & the resulting wave of anglers/visitors. Its often the beauty, seclusion &/or remoteness of a spot that can make it so memorable or special.

Good luck in the seach for "your" secret spot. ;D

Cheers,
