View Full Version : bait in fresh water?

going to borumba in the morning, plan to use lures on first light for bass and toga. then was thinking about fishing a few baits around the bottom of all the sticks.. worth doing? if so what's the best baits i can be using (keeping in mind i wont be able to get live shrimp.)... doesnt bother me what fish i get out of it... just need something to do in this wind >:(

remembered my impoundment permit ran out about 2 weeks ago.. DAM. going to buy a new one this arvo and hopefully get up there one arvo this week for an evening sesion.
seams no one uses bait in the fresh??

Of course you're referring to bait such as squid, mullet strips etc , aren't you?

Not normally a common practice unless your using shrimp or worms etc. Get a few spinnerbaits (up to half ounce for bass) and throw them round with a baitcaster in the sticks. And then use a light spin stick to throw round small spinnerbaits and lightly weighted plastics around the shallows. This is probably your best bet on picking up a bass or a toga. Also if your fishing at night time get some surface popers and chuck em round weed beds and submerged grass.

Jeff, when tim isnt looking get a couple of his blades and rig a rubbertail on them, i have high hopes for those things.
