I have heard that Forgen Cove was producing good quality Crayfish. My two boys and myself parked in the carpark off Forgen Rd and ventured to the left for about 800 metres.
We tried for them a couple of weeks ago and got zilch, so decided to travel further around the waters edge.
Found what I thought to be a cracker of a spot and promised my young fellas there would be something in the traps.
We managed to get 13 small shrimp and no bloody crays.
There were heaps of be-headed crays all over the place and all of fantastic size.
I dont mind going for an hours walk to get the big ones, but would like a little inside info as to where they may be. I know night time is the best time to catch them and have no problems with that either.
A little hint would be great.
Maybe the little buggers dont like the brand of cat food I presented them. I checked the Operah House pots every 30 minutes, is that too quick??
Cheers

To quick. every 1 1/2 hours
Use pillies
Throw over the weed around the bank
We got a good feed 2 weeks ago.
I have been told that over the last few weeks they have dropped right off there.

I spoke to Adam who you meet on Sunday night down there. He knows a fair bit about where to put them now as he's caught alot from there this season. It seem like its starting to get flogged out or there comeing to the end of the season. I hope to make a trip down there this weekend.

I have 10 or fifteen in a large fish tank at home all of varying sizes and find when the light is off they come out to seek food. When the light is on you are flat out finding them in the rocks and logs that are in the tank.
That is why you are pretty much wasting your time going after them during day light hours.
I will be down there again Friday evening for another go.
I may see you there.

wen i went red clawing at forgan cove at samsonvale we used chum dog food covered in tuna oil and picked them up every 30min. i think we ended up gettin a 20L bucket full to the rim.and a stack of shrimp aswell. we also tryed bullockys rest got a few not as many as forgan. all this was about 9:00 on a full moon.
