A boat or canoe is an advantage but you can hoof a fair bit of it from the dam wall end. Theres a walking track on the eastern side and fair access from the western ramp. You can also get into a bit of bank flailing from the boat ramp up near pine creek on the Murwillumbah-Nerang Road.
Don't know if you're using lures, flies or bait, but at the moment the best artificial option would be surface lures early morning or late afternoon. Don't forget to see the Ranger or a GCCC office for a permit.
Check the web page for a map. http://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/t_standard2.aspx?pid=542

Good luck.

thanks d-man,
i use poppers and spadlers in low light and lightly weighted soft plastics when the suns up around the tally area where i usually fish for bass. cause the pools i fish in you cast from one side to the other i wasn't to sure on big amounts of open water like hinze.
