Just after a bit of info please. I am heading down to Lismore, Victoria, a tiny town blink and you will miss it!, for my grannys 100th birthday celebrations and remember my old man taking me trout fishing when i was about 5yrs old. All i rememberis my old man catching these beatiful trout!! using garden worms for bait. I think the lake is called Lake Toolirook or Lake Ettric??
It was thirty years ago and i want to go back and have a bit of a crack at it now i am a bit older.
Can anyone help me out with info on the lake, baits to use, lures, is the lake still there or dried up???Do i need permitsetc
Thanking in advance

Usually the scrub worms sorced locally and mudeyes are basically the killer baits for trout and if you are throwing some lures tassie devils are probably the most idiot proof lure around that catches fish.

Scrub worms are found in the ecalyptus forests and are a bit hard to find unless you know what to look for. Probably best bet is buying them (about a dollar odd in the snowy region) or digging some of those big garden worms from you nan's garden.
Mudeyes, are dragon fly lave, these are pretty easy to find in creeks or dams, find a log or a big rock and roll it over gently and you will see these things that look like little spiders.
See pic below, use a size ten fly hook and hook these things through the base of the wings so you don't kill them and suspend them about a metre under a bubble float. these a one of the best baits. A local tackle shop will set you up for sure. Or drop in on the way down there, in one of the big towns like Albury etc.
