Hi All,

Can you help me with some info on proserpine . I have not fished the dam before but just want to know roughly where the timbered area's are located from the ramp area. I have looked on google earth but cannot see the timbered area's. The map fitzy has on the web site does not show either.

Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers

Aaron

Hi Aaron,
The Timber on the dam is directly north west across from the concrete ramp which may be out of the water by now, trust me you wont miss it when you get there.
It stretches west & south west with many little creeks heading up into the mountains & all contain drowned timber.

Its a whole forest of timber that looks impenitrable, but its not!

The water is very low at the moment so you probably won't need to be in there anyway. The water gets a bit dead & toxic looking if you are thinking of hitting the shallows. I would stick to the main body of water you can still fish this way there.

Caution should be taken when the southerly blows up if you do go in the timber. Branches & the tops of the trees are often comming down in the wind, so be careful!

If you want some other pointers on Faust send me a P.M & I'll tell you what I know.
Cheers

The water is heaps healthier & there is more bait & weed in this area so the Barra stay close.

Aaron,

Pic as Toppy described below, I also agree with his advice on where you'll find the fish!

Paul,
Are you fishing the comps this year?

Cheers
Matt C

PS the yellow dot is roughly where the boat ramp is.

Thanks Paul and Matt for your help.

If it all falls into place I will be up in townsville when the ABT barra comps is on at prosie hence the questions on the dam. I have commonderred a boat of a mate and conviced him to join the bt and fish the comp with me.

I plan to take a spare electric tiller up there with me to use in the comp. As I have never fished the dam I am trying to get a heads up on the place. With work commitments I wont be able to prefish the dam and will be turning up just a hour or two before breifing.

Matt thanks for the pic. Just trying to figure out wether to concentrate fishing the deeper waterlooking for suspended barra hanging arounf bait schools or fish the edges/structure.

Any more help appreciated

Cheers
Aaron

Nice fish there Matt... Caught a few around that loc myself as i only live 5 mins down the road..Funny how we use them for prossie practice and drive 250kms down the road...to tackle the same fish..ammittingly a little larger and amongst the timber....... 8-)
