Manns 5+ is an absolute must for small water bass fishing. They're effective as a normal retrieve, and the variations of what can be done with them are not only unusual, but very productive. They can be cranked down a couple feet, and keep the lure in a poition before a snag by simply tugging on the line with short "stabs" for quiet a while, due to greeat boyancy. I've used them in "clear lanes" amingst weed choked water and even had yellow belly rise to take them from the surface when fished this way.
Manns 5+, along with a couple others is about all a person needs to carry in the pocket when fishing rough hard to access bass spots, where carrying too much gear isn't practicle.
The colours I've done best with are of course the classic green tones, and also the white with black. there's a massive range of colours we never see in this country which can be ordered directly from manns.

Hi Cam
I've done very well with Poltergeists but they're a long way from being the best casting lures. Good lures though.
Those Mann's lures are brilliant to cast. But I think that applies to all Mann's lures.
And I have to agree with killitfillit - Merlins are great.

Only own one manns, had no luck though.
More succes with jitter bugs, but have to say I not the best fisherman around.

dont forget the spinnerbaits and/or the spinn blade attachments for a jighead rigged softplastic. Can vary depth and speed for retrieve with a quick change of jighead and plastic without a full re-rig. Have used this a lot recently when covering new ground.

The poltys are a good lure, but their casting abolity leaves a lot to be desired. Because of their large bib, they change direction, roll, and get fouled up on the cast alot.
And with river/creek fishing accuracy is important...and the poltys just dont deliver.
