Has anyone fished this part of the world latlley? I was wondering if its worth the trip with the current water levels. The last time that I fished there it was around 4 percent capacity.
I would sure like to go out that way again as it is a top barra impoundment.

Hey Morfin, I was out that way last week and the dam is 1% and they are concerned on the fish dieing, I was at callide talking to one of the locals who filled me in the need rain bad out there, as everywere, but hed that extra bit to callide it around hour or so more, and great fishing, plenty over a meter, and on the chew as we speak

Thanks TT , I have fished Callide & very impressed. Did you find out if you can still fish/ launch your boat there? Maybe if I head out there I will do a rain dance in exchange for some barras. Every time I fish @ the dam it rains , may have to see if I can get sponsered & I will stay a week (ha)!

Wuruma dam is still at 1%, but fishing pretty dam good.
The bass and yellow belly are on the chew with the warmer weather.
The big news is that SOME BARRA ARE STILL IN THERE.
Back in Sept we had a fairly major fish kill where lots and lots of barra and silver perch rolled.
A very small handful of bass and yellow rolled, but mostly the barra and silvers.
So now the water clarity and oxygen levels are good again - anglers have discovered barra are still there.
As yet none over legal size have been caught, but some just under and many around the 25 cm marks.
This is so good !

NOW - launching boats of the smaller sizer are still OK, but a 4x4 is a necessity as the dirt ramp is a bit steep and getting a boat out with a conventional car is just impossible - DO TRY THAT.

Thanks Helen,

I took the risk and headed out to Wuruma dam on boxing day it rained all the way up there & rained all night next morning rained too!I launched the boat at the ramp (mudslide) & started to venture up the dam to see how low the dam is , about 1km from the ramp no water I was shocked what an eye opener I didnt even make it past the cliffs.
Basically caught no fish the weather fowlled things up & went home.

That's right. there isn't very much water up stream at all.
If you read Bush n Beach fishing mag I write an article there each month and usually do an update of what's happening at the dam.
It's been that low now for awhile.
Still enough water for fishing and the bass, yellows and some barra are being caught.
