game rod and reels

I'm interested in buying a game rod and reel in the near future can anyone suggest certain brands and if at all possible the approximate prices.

Well angelena, this is a curly one. As everyone will have a different opinion. ??? ::)

First, what size are you after, ie:- what size fish ?

Prices range from $400 ( rod & Reel ) to $ 4,000 and ever upwards.

If you are by chance chasing, small blacks, Wahoo, Spaniards, Dolphin Fish etc, I'd be havin a close look at Shimano TLD series reels.

I have a TLD 15, and it's taken everything from 1kg Squires to 8ft Reef sharks, I also use Braid on the bugga. ;)

The rod is simply a Penn Powerstick 15kg.

Lucky phil is quite right...........more info please!What do you want to catch;where are you from etc.......
My view is , if you go to a GOOD tackle store,state what you want to catch,and,your budget,they should steer you in the right direction!Stay to recognised brands.eg Shimano,Penn etc for reels,and in my opinion,SABRE,for rods,and you can't go wrong!Good luck!
