I'm looking at a Penn 330GTI for snapper, kingies and other largish fish. What say you lot, any good?

They're a nice reel, good quality. A mate has just bought an outfit with one for $200 including line so they are well priced. Personally though I would go (and have gone) for a lever drag. I bought an outfit with a Penn 245LD, put some 40lb Platinum on it and it is brilliant. Cost was $300 for the rod and reel only.

deserfisher, they is tough as nails and allmost indestructable(with some tender luvin care) and pricewise??, ya cant go wrong and certainly do the job your after :).
Only one little prob with em is ya need a coupla extra fingers or hands when strippin em and assembling em again lol.
We pulled one of the workmates apart for a total clean n refit and that was the only prob we had.
Go for em

Hi desertfisher, the Gti reels are definately tough,if you get one take good care of it,Penn parts are very dear and the Ausie distrubitor may need a few goes at geting the right parts to you if you don't send him the reel.

Thanks fellas,,I just bought one via Ebay so I'll have a bugger around with this one first before I buy another. Hmmmm,,,next one might be a lever drag,,definately a level wind though,,when i get a decent fish on the line, a man has better things to worry about than guiding line on, like how much rum I'll need to wash the fish down. :P ::)
