Could someone tell me what the kg rating on a rod is in relation to. eg: 1kg-3kg. #Does this mean you can "ONLY" use 1 to 3 kg line or does it relate to the amount of weight the rod will hold or maybe something else ????

They are generous though?

Yeah, I reckon they are all pretty generous - especially the yanks!
Sometimes they rate a rod 10 - 25 lb!
Personally, I reckon 1-3kg is too broad.
When I use ultra-light gear I'm casting small lures which can be next to impossible on 3kg line.
A 1kg rod will bend in a decent arc when loaded at about 1/2 kg.
Same goes for the others ie: a decent (in between a full bend and just the tip bent) arc in a 3kg rod will be about 1.5kg of tension.
Clear as mud 'eh? ;)
Cheers, NS
