i got my cast net on sunday and have sort of learnt how to throw it now i just need to kno where i can use it

tom i too was trying to learn how to throw it, kept thinking the bin was the best option still havn't worked it out

Tom, as far as as I know there is nowhere except a jetty at the bay that it is illegal to use one, I could be wrong on that. How big a net did you get?

Where abouts do you normally put in?
I often throw my net into Cabbage Tree Creek off the bridge at Boondall just past Northside Marine. I usually get a bunch of mullet, some herring and lately some prawns.
I'm not really good at throwing the net yet, either, and I'd prefer the relative solitude of the bridge early before sunrise than off a beach providing some entertainment for the locals. ::)
Also, if I strike out, I can always get some bait from a shop on the way to the ramp before putting in.
